Account about the opening of the Kindergarten in South Africa on September 8th 2007.
"Frank's Heaven" – Kylmore Creche, Kylmore, South Africa.
Finally it was ready - on September 8th - with the whole town celebrating - the Kindergarten was officially opened.
 
 
There were about 150 children present along with as many adults and everybody seemed to have a fantastic time! After plenty of speeches to recognize the multitude of people that made this project happen, people were entertained by a special dance some of the children had learned and later on by a clown who stopped by for a visit and produced many laughs. The kids were able to enjoy not just one but TWO jumping castles and there was plenty to eat and drink.
 
 
We were impressed how wonderfully everyone was integrated - even older children that were watching the events with longing eyes from the other side of the fence were invited to join in and left at the end of the day with a belly full of food and a few hours spent carefree and happy. Nobody was left out.
 
The gratitude of the people living in Kylemore was overwhelming. Bianca and I were continuously embraced and many tears of joy were flowing freely. On our end, the tears were both joyous and sad since the Kindergarten has taken on such a different significance. Frank would surely be proud and incredibly happy to be part of such a wonderful place and we know that his optimism and uplifting spirit will leave their mark on the children of "Frank's Heaven".
 
 
The children of Kylemore now have a place that can be the basis of a better future for them. We are so happy that everything worked out as well as it did and would like to thank our patients, friends, sponsors and everyone else involved again for making this project come true. What a fantastic memorial for Frank.
 
But we haven't reached the end of our possibilities - the next project is already in the works and we are looking for supporters! Now that the children are taken care of, the infants desperately need our help. Currently most of the babies of working parents are kept in very poor conditions until their mothers are back from work. To change this, plans are already drawn up for a baby day care center where parents can bring their infants to be cared for. The center may also include a small art center for the older children. If things go as planned, Bianca will be able to exhibit her art work along with paintings done by some of the Kylemore Kindergarten children next spring in College Station, Texas. Having seen some of the art work done by the young artists, it cannot be anything but a huge success!
